Skinny Jeans 101 with Lori (from KUT)
In Real Women, Skinny Jeans
Some women think skinny jeans are made for skinny people…
THAT’S JUST NOT TRUE!
I love skinny jeans. Why? They are super cute and flattering AND they look good on most people and NO they aren’t just for skinny people at all! What makes a jean skinny? According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, “skinny jeans have a snug fit through the legs and end in a small leg opening that can be anywhere from 9″ to 20″ depending on size.” As I said, no where does that say they are for skinny people!
The tough part of skinny jeans are that they level differently on their “skinniness.” KUT from the Kloth has awesome skinny jeans. The “Diana” jean is a skinny jean and so is the “Bridgette.” They have a new style called the Jennifer that feels more like a Jegging. It’s super fitted and made of a soft stretch terry that is really comfortable.
The biggest question that I hear is “What do I wear with my skinny jeans?” The answer is ALWAYS balance yourself. If the legs on your jeans are tapered, then your shirt should be more oversized. In other words…skinny tops and skinny jeans DO NOT look good together. Ever.
In my opinion, nothing looks better than a great flowy top in any season with a pair of skinny jeans. It’s a great way to show off your legs and not have to worry if your stomach is totally flat or not.
My favorite outfit in the summer is a pair of skinny jeans, a great flowing tank, and an awesome pair of wedges! Put on a long necklace, some hanging earrings, add on a clutch and you are ready for a night out!
Skinny jeans also look great with a variety of shoes: wedges, ballet flats, heels, flat sandals, boots (tucked in) and booties. If you really love your shoes and want to show them off in the warmer months, roll your skinny jean up and voila- you have a cropped skinny jean! Showing your ankles is always flattering especially with an awesome pair of shoes or sandals!
If you were at all afraid to try skinny jeans, put your fear aside and GO FOR IT!!! Try on a bunch of different skinny KUT styles to find the one that most flatters you. The patterns and colors are so cool these days, so have fun!
One final tip: If you wear a patterned skinny jean, please keep your top solid! Remember there are no muffin tops with KUT jeans so you will look and feel amazing in your new skinny jeans. Please send us pics of you in your skinnies. We’d love to see the looks you put together!
